Jessica Hine

Jessica (Jess) practices primarily in criminal law and related areas including domestic violence. She accepts briefs in all stages of criminal law matters and in all jurisdictions. Jess also accepts briefs in inquests and inquiries, professional discipline and regulatory matters.

Jess began her legal career working in private practice as a solicitor in the Toowoomba and Dalby regions, regularly circuiting to rural and remote courthouses in South West Queensland. In 2022, Jess relocated to Mount Isa for 18 months to work at Legal Aid Queensland where she gained extensive experience. Jess regularly appeared in busy Courts including Cloncurry, Normanton, Mornington Island and Doomadgee. 

Jess then re-located to the Townsville Legal Aid Office where she was promoted to senior Criminal Lawyer. During her time at Legal Aid, Jess gained a wealth of experience managing clients with diverse backgrounds and upbringings including matters requiring interpreters for non-English speaking languages and indigenous dialects. Jess has experience with complex mental health matters and regularly appeared in both juvenile and adult matters.

Jess was called to the Bar in December 2024.
